Learn to ride unicycle @ 70 years old

He wanted to ride with his grand kids.
Last fall we took family picture on our unicycle and I wanted him in them with us.
Just this past week he had a triple bypass.
My mom said that the week before he went in for surgery he drove down the street when she
was not home for one more ride.
Not a smart thing to do before you go in for major heart surgery.
Yesterday my mom told me a need to pick up his unicycle =(
He worked for a year to learn at age 70, and now at 73 health is taking it away.
I hope and pray that next summer we will I'll ride again!

My 20th half marathon

Well my 20th half marathon was not what I was expecting. I struggled as much as a did when I had done a full. I had to stopped at almost every bathroom on the route. By Mile 7 it was true something was wrong. I had a UTI (bladder infection). After talking to someone at a first ad station and decided I would keep going. I was in pain for awhile and had to walk, and stop at each outhouse. Has a time of 2:25:22 one of my slowest half marathons. I'm happy I push through and didn't quit. Right after the race walked right through the transition station and headed to the hospital (by now I was peeing blood). As I look back on the day I had a fever in the morning, because I woke up all sweaty. The night before I was quite tired, and that's not me. What a day! End of September I'll try it again.

Soccer Soccer Soccer

Soccer is all I have been busy with for six weeks now. Monday and Wednesday I have been coaching an awesome group of kids. We have not lost a game all season! Tuesdays and Thursday, my oldest, and youngest both play on different team, so lots of running around. There is about a week and a half left to go. With all of this going on I have been training for a half Marathon. It will be my 20th half, in 4 days. Love all the action, but in to weeks I'll be ready for a break.

royal wedding

I came across these pictures, mix together. To funny not to share. That hat on Princess Beatrice's, look crazy, she looks like a cartoon. It's being sold on eBay starting at £5,000. Some loved it - many hated it. The hat has since been compared to a Turkey Twizzler or a pretzel. Maybe it's a toilet seat with an octopus in it. I think she has watch Alice in Wonderland to many times.

A Nimbus Ultimate Wheel!

Yes it's just a wheel with two pedals on it.

Will anyone in the family be able to ride,

or who will get hurt trying?

One of the boys is trying it out after soccer.
I'll keep you updated on this one.

I can do it, I can do it.

After going for a run the other day, Mallory was playing on the street with his unicycle. I thought well I should spend some time trying to free mount. Which is to start driving with out holding onto something for balance. Only 5min later I did it! I keep trying for about 1/2hour. I did it about 8 time, "not bad" I said to myself. So after supper like a little kids that learned something new. I want to show my husband Dan what I had learned. It took 15min before I could do it. Well I guess more practice is need! Now at least I can say "I CAN DO IT!"

First unicycle ride of the year

It's been a long winter. Last week it was +2c outside so we went for a ride. Brandon had to ride the 5ft unicycle, because the just loves being up there. Everyone else on a 20inch wheel but me. I wanted to help Alexandra, she still needs help getting on. We had a good ride about a half hour. The last time we went for a ride together was in October.

Last night Mallory and Alexandra wanted to practice outside after supper. Mallory we riding with only one foot. He made a total of 17 rotations with only using one foot. He is so cool on this unicycle. This morning off to school on this unicycle. Mallory looks so funny with big winter boots on when he left.

Alexandra was amazing last night. She learned to free mount! (Start with out having to hang on to anything) I don't know how do to that. I well have to practice, because I'm now the only one in the family that can't free mount. Alexandra was very excited because she will be able to ride her unicycle to school soon. You need to master free mount if she wants to be independent. I'm so proud of my little girl.

The 11th should be a day to pray.

Sept 11th (NY) Jan 11th (Haiti) and March 11th (Japan)........
Wow, all on the 11th

Luke 21:10-11
Then Jesus said to his disciples : "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes', famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. 'Jesus says for behold I come quickly.

Home Again

Back home again. One week vacation with the husband was great. No cooking, no cleaning, for one week was wonderful. The kids had a great time with there grandparents. Grandma spoiled the kids by making cinnamon buns each night, and making lunches for them. We are so grateful that we didn't need to call and see how the kids were doing, because gran and gramp's were awesome.

here are some of the sandcastles we have madehttp://www.youtube.com/user/TobyandRosie?feature=mhum#p/u/11/cWflqsV2FW8

Sleeping on the beach for a nap was a first for me. I am always on the move, planing and doing things. So on this Caribbean vacation I didn't plan any outings. Just relax time, then more relax time. Not a plan in sight. It took about three day tell all felt cool as a cucumber. Being with my husband for a week was good for both of us. We work together, but we don't spend any time together at work, and at home kids and meetings. All marriages are happy. It's the living together afterward that causes all the trouble. That's why we need to book off this time just for the two of us. When all is said and done one week was just right. After day 6 I was ready to head home back to the action.

When we got home on a Thursday night, we had one day to work before the weekend. It's amazing how fast we can jump back in to the day to day of life. It may be back to work but after a short break, I'm ready to go. I like the busyness of it all.

"Mom can I go to a birthday party tomorrow? oh I need a present."

"Mom you need to fill out these papers for school, the band is going away on a trip?"

"Tomorrow there is Youth at Church can I go? and can you pick-up my friend?"

These were the first thing that I heard Thursday night at 11pm when we got home.

Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing. The work of a mother is work worth doing!

Going Away Guilt

Planning a trip is the easy part. Planning a trip and leaving the kids at home now that takes planning. Grandma, and Grandpa are coming to stay with the kids, so that's good. Now I have started making a calender of the week we will be gone. Curling games for the kids, guitar lessens, dance lessens, etc. so gran, & granp's will know were the kids need to go. We have not gone of a week alone in 8year, and we have been married of 15years. The kids are older 9, 11,13 so we thought lets go for it. Gran, & Gramp's are making me feel like we are burden them with our kids. I have always made sure don't make my parent watch my kids, and have really never made them have them for night. (Only ever have had my parents have them for night 2 times a year because we were running a marathon in the morning.) Now we are leaving them with the kids for the week.

What is the problem here you may be asking? Is it me who thinks they don't want to watch my kids? They have watched my three sister kids lots. As the time to go on our trips get closer, I feel like I'm burden my parents with my kids.

Well I am going to stay positive about everything. My kids are great and really never fight with each other, and help around the house lots. They are not high maintenance. You tell them to make there lunch, they do it. Tell them take a shower they do it. Tell them to clean up, they do it.

Here is my wish. That all runs smooth, and they enjoy there time together!
Oh ya, and that we could bring our unicycles with us, they would be so fun to drive around the resort.

Trying to run no matter the weather.

Well I set a goal to run 10 miles each week starting this January. Living in Manitoba, Canada in January running outside can be a bit "cool" jog. Week one went for two runs total 12miles, -30c with the windchill. Next week two runs, total 10miles, -25c with windchill. Then some thing happened with the weather, was -5c to +4c the next two weeks. It was icy but with some spikes on my runner I had fast fun runs. 5 weeks in and it's going, maybe all bump up the miles for march.

That brings me today with windchill feels like -25c. I have my MP3 charging, I don't want to go out side. Anyone that likes to jog has been there, good weather or bad. The times you have to make yourself go for a run. You know you will feel better after a good jog, but you have to make yourself do it. The weather was better last week. It's to cold. (Three weeks ago I was running in colder weather) I have been jogging for 9 years is this ever going to get easier. I like jogging but why is there have to be this fight with my "will" now and then.

Right now it's 3pm the sun is out, at -25 with windchill, it's as nice out as it's going to get. So with that, I'm going to put on long jonh's and two more layers, gloves, with only my eyes that are not cover up and head out. My "Will" do stay in will not win. Weather it nice out or not, here we go, I'm a jogger and I will make myself love it.

How We Roll

Here I am with my family three kids husband and my 73 year old dad. We all drive the unicycle! It all started about 8 year ago. I got my husband Dan a unicycle for our anniversary. Then my boys learned to drive at the age of 7 & 8, then me. This year my daughter learn, as well as grandpa. Nothing more wonderful then a well balance family!
